Honour Among Sportsman
Middle-grade book illustrations for “Honor Among Sportsmen,” a short story by Richard Connell. A petty rivalry among two truffle hunters escalates absurdly. A town rule requires duelling men to have an equal number of children, which leads the hunters to extreme lengths. They find wives and father children. One hunter wants to avoid a duel to the death and strives for more children. The other, who wants to duel, strives to equal their number of children.
